Tianjin Institute of Physical Education
(TJIPE) is located at the southwestern
end of Tianjin city, near the Bohai Bay,
about 120 kilometers away from capital
city, Beijing. Tianjin is the largest
port city in the northern part of China;
a hub for well-developed sea, land, air
transportation and communication. Tianjin
will host several functions of the 2008
Olympic Games. It takes only two hours
from Beijing International Airport to
TJIPE, and about forty minutes from Tianjin
International Airport by car. TJIPE is
adjacent to Tianjin Olympic Sports Center
and has a nice environment with convenient
city transportation. With four seasons,
Tianjin’s weather is much like the city
of Chicago, with the high temperatures
around 38°C in the summer, and the lows
around –10°C during the winter.
Founded in 1958, TJIPE has a proud
history. Over the past 40 years, we
have fostered large alumni of professionals,
helping develop our country’s physical
education programs. There are more than
300 teachers and 5,000 students currently
attending our institute, including both
undergraduates and post-graduate students.
The campus, with shaded paths of green
trees and a rippling lake, covers an
area of 400,000 M2, with facility space
more than 200,000 M2. We have high-level
sports teams in track and field, swimming,
weight lifting, baseball and Para Olympians.
TJIPE has well-equipped facilities for
teaching, training and scientific research.
There are indoor training halls and
outdoor courts, fields for the training
and teaching in track and field, gymnastics,
swimming, Wushu (martial arts), tennis
and many other kinds of physical activities.
Our baseball field is a first-class,
national competition fields built to
international standards. In recent years,
a comprehensive gym and two teaching
and experimental buildings have been
built. There are advanced multimedia
classrooms, computer labs within our
institute, utilizing the local area
broadband network. Our library has a
collection of nearly 300,000 books and
500 kinds of domestic and foreign periodicals,
with an index and inquiry functions
throughout its network.

Living Condition
Life is good here, at TJIPE. The
school is located in an urban district,
near hospitals, banks, restaurants,
post offices, bookstores, laundry services
and other daily life facilities. On
campus there is a newly built service
center. A person needs only US$3-5 per
day to eat in our school’s multi-level
canteen. The institute offers well-equipped
facilities for teaching and training.
Within the campus you may find a baseball
field, playground, football field, tennis
courts; comprehensive gym, indoor track
and field hall, natatorium, ball games
hall, judo hall, archery hall and gym
etc.
Additional Fees
The students shall cover the expenses
of meals, medical insurance and teaching
materials as well as any cost of experiments,
practices and visits outside the teaching
programs.
Regulations On Payment
① Tuition Fees:
Tuition is paid once each year. In
extraneous cases, it may be paid twice
in a year, but not less than the fee
for one semester each time. If the length
of study is more than half a year but
less than one year, the tuition should
be paid in full. Tuition is to be paid
in the first 2 weeks of each term. The
student will not be registered until
the tuition is paid in full. If the
student needs to postpone his tuition
payment due to reasons out of their
control, they must apply to International
Exchange Office, to get the approval.
However, payment should be made within
one month of the new semester beginning.
An extra 5% of the total due tuition
is required each month of postponed
payment. No tuition will be returned
or refunded by the institute after the
first 2 weeks of a new term in the advent
of transferring, suspension or withdraw.
② Accommodation Fees:
Accommodation Fees should be paid
within the first 2 weeks of a new semester,
and no less than the fee for one semester
each time. Registration is not complete
until the accommodation fees are paid.
If the student needs to postpone his
accommodation payment due to extraneous
reasons, they must apply to International
Exchange Office, for approval. The latest
payment should be made within the first
month of the new semester. In case of
transfer, suspension or withdraw, the
student will be charged for their daily
usage and refunded the difference.
8.Application Process

According to these exchange agreements,
many of the universities exchange students
with TJIPE. The specifics of these matters
shall be held in accordance with the
exchange agreements.

9. Admission Procedure
①Ask the International Exchange Office

☆ The undergraduate students and master’s
degree students should also provide:

③ To apply for X visa or F visa (for
short-term students) for entry, students
are required to submit the JW202 Form,
the Admission Notice and the Physical
Exam Record (This can be done after
coming to China) to the Chinese Embassy/Consulate
in your country.
④ If help is needed upon arrival, information
on flight number etc, must be faxed/
E-mailed to our International Exchange
Office. The price of pickup from Beijing
Airport to Tianjin Institute of Physical
Education is $55 for one person. The
price from Tianjin Airport to Tianjin
Institute of Physical Education is $8
for one person; the price from Tianjin
Harbor to Tianjin Institute of Physical
Education is $20 for one person. The
charge can be relatively reduced if
there are more than 2 persons simultaneously.
A shuttle bus, from Beijing to Tianjin
is available outside Beijing Airport.
⑤ After lodging arrangements are made,
the student should register with the
International Exchange Office and submit
the Admission Notice, the original copy
of Physical Exam Record (short-term
students may be exempt from physical
examination),passport, and pay tuition
fees with the Financial Section.
⑥ Within 15 days after arrival, students
must take the physical exam at Tianjin
Sanitation and Anti-epidemic Station,
and within 30 days after arrival, the
X visa students are requested to apply
for residence permit at the Exit-Entrance
Administration Department of Tianjin
Public Security Bureau(fees are paid
by the student). The penalty for non-compliance
will be enforced by the Public Security
Department to all students who have
not applied for their residence permit
before his/her visa expires.
⑦ After selecting your courses, and
getting your student I.D., we suggest
and will help you learn any concerning
stipulations/requirements of the institute
and our nation.
